February 16 - Black History Month – Cynthia Zakiah Barksdale
Cynthia Zakiah Barksdale received an M.F.A. from Yale School of Drama, an M.A. from Adelphi University, and a B.F.A. from Howard University. She has worked extensively as an actor and director. She was featured in the CBS cable film The Resurrection of Lady Lester and has appeared in such productions as Hamlet, A Raisin in the Sun, Three Sisters, The Blacks, God’s Smoke, Medea, Blues for Mr. Charlie and The Old Settler. She has taught in New York and Maryland and was a visiting Professor of Acting at Oberlin College. She is currently a Professor of English at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, CT, where she has produced thirteen annual tributes to Paul Robeson.
